All the different package options and customizable options that vary depending on your photographer (not to mention the handful of different mini sessions offered throughout the year) are great for giving you plenty of options to choose from for getting those family photos. BUT I totally get it…it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out which type of session you should book!
If it’s your first time booking with a photographer, I highly recommend reaching out to them and having them help you decide the type of package or session that is the best fit for your family.
One of the questions I get asked most often is “what is the difference between a full session and a mini session?” If you’re currently trying to decide between these two types of sessions, I’ve broken it all down for you! Keep reading to compare the pros and cons of each!
*Note: this list is based on the specific package options I offer. If you are booking with another photographer, this will still give you a good idea of what the different sessions look like, but check with your photographer about their specific packages because some of these details will be different!
MINI SESSIONS:
These sessions are much quicker and a good option if your kiddos are like mine and won’t last long for photos. Or maybe it’s the parents that won’t last long… 🤪 We’ll only need to keep their attention for about 15 minutes!
Minis are best if you are looking for just a few great updated photos of the fam. I guarantee at LEAST 20+ photos for all my mini sessions.
If you are working with a tighter budget for your session, minis are a great way to still get some amazing photos but at a bit lower cost since you are splitting the time with other families.
Dates and locations are predetermined. I only offer a handful of mini session dates each year and they fill up fast!
FULL SESSIONS:
With full sessions there is no time pressure. These sessions are typically 45-60 minutes, but we can take our time and take breaks whenever needed. This makes them a great option for kiddos who need a lot of time to warm up to strangers.
You’ll get TONS of photos! It depends on the type of full session you book, but I typically guarantee a minimum of 50+ photos (and because I’m an overachiever I usually deliver almost double that).
Full sessions are more of a storytelling experience. We’re able to get a ton of playful, candid photos while we just let your family run around and explore together. These sessions are more of a relaxed pace whereas mini sessions are more structured.
You are welcome to bring your extended family along too! We can snap a few adorable shots of the kids with grandma and grandpa while we are at it!
With full sessions, you get to decide your own date. We can work around YOU and your schedule, as opposed to having to wait until my next set of mini dates are released. Plus, you get to choose the location too! If there is somewhere specific you would like to have your session, then a full session is the option to go with.
