Thinking about bringing your fur babe along for your upcoming studio session? I say DO IT! They’re a big part of your family and it’s always so fun to include them in your photos. Things may get a little more chaotic, but it will be 100% worth it for those fun photos.
I absolutely LOVE it when pups come into my studio. There’s nothing better than getting to hang out with cute doggos! It will 100% be my mission to become best friends with your fur babe by the end of your session.

Make sure to bring plenty of treats to help keep your pup focused during photos! Plus when their moment in the spotlight is over, it’s great to have something that will keep them entertained for the rest of the time so they stay out of trouble and so you can focus on enjoying the session without feeling like you need to keep a close eye on them. Kong toys frozen with peanut butter are always a hit!
If you are worried about your pup getting into trouble (or trying to make their way into every shot), consider bringing a family member or friend with you to your session to be on dog duty. During photos they can be in charge of treats and help with getting your dog to look at the camera. After your fur babe’s feature moment, they can keep an eye on your pup and make sure they are staying well-hydrated, getting all the treats, and staying out of mischief.
Try to arrive to the studio early so you have plenty of time to walk your pup around the building a bit and make sure they do their business beforehand! That way we don’t have to worry about any happy accidents (if it DOES happen, don’t worry! It won’t be the first time we’ve had to clean up an accident in my studio and it probably won’t be the last) and we can jump right into the session.
Once you’re in the studio, it’s okay to take a few minutes to just let them sniff around and explore. We’ll wait until they have calmed down a bit and have adjusted to the new space before getting started with photos. That way it will be a little easier for them to sit still and focus!
Make an appointment to take your pup to the groomers beforehand so they are looking their best for the session! Also, if they will be wearing a collar or any other accessories, make sure it doesn’t clash with the outfits you will be wearing for your session.
Don’t forget to take your dog for a long walk or let them run around outside for a while before heading to your studio session! A tired out pup is waaayy easier to work with than one who has all the excited energy and hasn’t gotten exercise yet that day!
